This is a project that consists of five luxurious villas, mounted at the edge of a cliff, facing the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea. The Queens Sands Villas are located in Queens bay in the village of Kissonerga, just outside the holiday resort of Pafos, on the island of Cyprus. These villas are characterized by their modern architectural style that blends with elements of local tradition, such as stone walls, high-quality construction materials, and the seamless interaction between indoor and outdoor spaces, which function as open-air rooms.
Designed by renowned architect George Kalaitzides, Queens Sands Villas capture the essence of modern Mediterranean living, enhanced with elements of local tradition, all under the umbrella of contemporary architecture. The project is currently under construction and is set to become a symbol of elegance and minimalism in residential design.
The villas are designed to maximize the view of Queens Bay, with the front row villas organized in two levels and the second row villas in three levels, featuring swimming pools located on the roof garden level. The living spaces are bathed in natural light, thanks to the French windows and glass balcony railings that reveal the beautiful interiors. The interiors feature rich marble and tasteful ceramic floor tiles, harmonizing with granite elements and solid wood surfaces.
Each villa is equipped with high-quality Italian signature furniture, including built-in wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, doors, and accessories. The bathrooms boast high-quality sanitary ware and fittings, adding a touch of luxury to the overall design.
The Queens Sands Villas offer two types of villas. Type A, the front row villas, span two levels and feature four bedrooms, an office, and four bathrooms. The living space covers 230 sq.m, with an additional 42 sq.m of covered verandas. These villas also boast a 3 x 11m pool and a private garden.
Type B, the second row villas, span three levels and include a lift. They offer three bedrooms and four bathrooms, with a living space of 209 sq.m and 85 sq.m of covered verandas. These villas also feature a 109 sq.m basement and a pool located on the roof terrace level, measuring 3 x 9m and covering 100 sq.m. A private garden is located at the lower level.
The design of Queens Sands Villas was not without its challenges. The integration of modern architecture with local Mediterranean aesthetics was a critical aspect, as was the incorporation of two ancient wells from the Chalcolithic period, under the guidance of the Cyprus Archaeological Department.
The Queens Sands Villas project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019 in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding and creatively ingenious design that combines experience, resourcefulness, and best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Queens Sands Villas contribute to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
